Database Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the integrity and security of the Group’s databases and underlying data. This includes installations, upgrades, administration and maintenance of existing and new databases and instances
  • To undertake performance monitoring and database tuning. This includes optimisation, indexes, slow running queries and memory management
  • To identify, diagnose, remediate and troubleshoot any database errors
  • To adhere to best practices for data consumption and to implement up to date security measures based upon best practices. This includes growth by capacity planning
  • To monitor and provide validation, replication, scheduling, backup, recovery and archiving of databases
  • To provide data extractions to the business, including where necessary the processing of data loads and transformations to prepare, embellish and format data to meet requirements
  • To report and implement Power BI, ETL packages and any other packages into the data warehouse, data lake or similar data storage/reporting environments
  • To define purpose, scope and implement database cataloguing
  • To develop Client databases, data architecture (on-premises and Azure), data warehouse, ETL processes, reports, and analytics to support the businesss objectives
  • To be the gatekeeper responsible for evaluating, optimising and approving any proposed changes/additions to the Group’s database environment prior to implementation
  • To support the businesss Data Governance including accuracy, consistency, security, access, ownership and auditing
  • To work with senior members of Dev Ops, Infrastructure, Data and Development teams to deliver broader departmental and business objectives
  • To take responsibility for your performance and to work together to achieve our organizational goals
  • To attend training courses which are identified as being necessary for the performance of the role
  • To be fully conversant with the Employee Handbook and supporting policies, including Health & Safety legislation and fire and emergency procedures
  • To comply with any reasonable instruction issued by your manager. Changes in the business may occasionally require alterations in this job description and these will be agreed with the post holder as appropriate. Your role is related to the management of activities that ensure product safety, authenticity, legality and quality

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in similar position
  • MCA Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Certification
  • In-depth commercial experience of using: o SQL Server o T-SQL o SQL Server Integration Services o SQL Server Report Services o Microsoft Azure o Power BI report development o Power BI Service o Dax
  • Experience with database administration and optimisation
  • Experience with data handling, auditing and cleansing
  • Business English: B2, C1
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Strong IT skills including proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
  • Educated to University degree level, STEM subjects preferred
  • Ability to speak a another language
